Cakeway to the West photos on Flickr.
I've been taking photos of the birthday cakes since the beginning of March, when there was still snow on the ground. Now that May is almost here, I decided to make a blog just for my cakewalking adventures.
Mine will be a little different from other similar blogs, because I am starting out by photographing the birthday cakes that I can get to by using public transportation and by walking. Also, since I don't have a smart phone, I do my research ahead of time to find the cake locations. I don't "collect" cakes by using an app, but by using my little Nikon Coolpix L28 to photograph each one.
So far I have only taken photos within the city limits of St. Louis and into University City (The Delmar Loop area). Usually I travel by myself, and spend lots of time photographing the surrounding area, as well as the birthday cakes from every conceivable angle. At first there were few people in the photos, unless someone happened to be in the cake vicinity at the same time, but lately I've tried to include a selfie with each cake. It took a lot of practice for me to stop making a frowny face every time!
This post has only a couple of links and no pictures, but the rest of this blog will feature a lot of photographs.
