more cakes in Grand Center

On March 11 I was in Grand Center again to photograph a few more cakes. The Sheldon Concert Hall's cake was painted by students at the nearby Grand Center Arts Academy and their art teacher Megan Clayton.

Right around the corner from the Sheldon, The Fabulous Fox Theatre has a cake too.

Just a few yards south of the Fox, The Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization shares a building with the Kranzberg Arts Center. I've photographed this cake many times. These photos were taken March 16, when it was very windy and cold. In one of my early selfies with the cake's candle, I'm all bundled up and forgot to smile.

This one is right in my neighborhood...

I was walking home from St. Pius V's fish fry on the first Friday of Lent (March 7), and saw this beautiful cake in front of Jay's market on South Grand. The South Grand neighborhood is full of ethnic restaurants and small shops.

I'm in the Grand Center area every week to do a radio show, Lotsa A Cappella, on KDHX on Sunday mornings. Here's one of several cakes in the Grand Center entertainment district. The old St. Louis Theater has been Powell Symphony Hall for many years now.

After finishing the radio show, I leave the KDHX studios in Grand Center and head downtown on the 97 Delmar bus, which travels east on Delmar and then on Washington to eventually turn south on 14th Street. The Campbell House Museum is located at 1508 Locust Street, a couple of blocks west of Christ Church Cathedral.

The very first cake I saw (March 5, 2014) on Delmar heading west from Union.

Riding in my friend's car, I took this photo as we drove by. The 97 Delmar bus goes right by here, and I have seen this cake many times since that day, but as of today (May 5) I have yet to get off the bus to walk over and get a closer look.

The next cake I saw was at Christ Church Cathedral, later on March 5 as I arrived to attend Ash Wednesday services there. Notice the snow on the ground. I have seen this cake and photographed it many times since. I'm a member of the Cathedral Choir and we sing at 10 AM services every Sunday morning. The Cathedral is accessible from the 97 Delmar bus, as well as many other buses, and it's a short walk from either the 14th Street or the 8th & Pine MetroLink station.
